What it means

A record on an established peer connection failed authentication: it was altered, repeated, dropped or reordered, or it was longer than allowed, or the connection reached its record limit. The connection was closed.

Whatever was in flight is discarded and fetched again, from this peer or another. Image data is checked by its hash regardless. A single occurrence on a flaky network is harmless; a pattern between two nodes points at the path between them.
