What it means

The peer's side of the connection ended before it sent close_notify, so the data received may be cut short. Mid-handshake this means the peer hung up before the handshake finished.

Treat what arrived as incomplete and retry the request. A peer that crashes, or a network that resets the connection, ends this way.
