What it means

"zbx commit" turns what a container changed into a new tree. That needs a container that was started from a tree digest ("zbx run <digest>"), because its writes are in an upper layer of their own. A container run on a directory ("zbx run --rootfs") wrote into that directory, a container run with --read-only had no upper layer, and the upper layer of an old container is removed with its record (the newest 32 are kept).

The cause says which of these it is. To keep a directory's contents, import it: "zbx store import <dir>".
